Admission Requirements

Students enter the Master of Philosophy in Business Research with at least a university Bachelor of Science/Arts degree. Students with a Dutch ‘doctorandus’ degree may also apply. The Programme is open to excellent students from schools in business and economics and from fields such as psychology, sociology and engineering. Since ERIM offers an outstanding level of research in management, admission criteria are very selective to guarantee that only high-potential researchers are able to enter the programme, thus preserving and enhancing the top-quality research environment. Students will be admitted to the ERIM MPhil Programme on the basis of the following:

  • A GMAT-test (Graduate Management Admission Test) or GRE-test (Graduate Record Examinations) is required for all entering students. The test results should not be older than three years.
  • Furthermore, ERIM requires candidates to show proof of their proficiency in English. Applicants have to provide ERIM with either a TOEFL or IELTS test. We require a TOEFL score of at least 600 for a paper based test, 250 for computer based test, and 100 for Internet based test. For IELTS a minimum score of 7 is required.
  • In addition to these formal requirements, candidates for the Programme are selected on the basis of their CVs, academic references, and interviews with the Doctoral Admission Committee.

For information on the application procedures and the exemptions to the proof of English proficiency see the Application section.
